The Royal Ballet School is one of the world's most prestigious classical ballet schools. Founded in 1926, it trains exceptionally talented young dancers for professional careers with leading companies such as The Royal Ballet and Birmingham Royal Ballet. The School has two campuses: White Lodge in Richmond Park (Lower School) and Covent Garden (Upper School).

History

Founded in 1926 by Dame Ninette de Valois as the Academy of Choreographic Art. Became affiliated with what is now The Royal Ballet. The Lower School moved to White Lodge, Richmond Park in 1955. The Upper School relocated to its purpose-built Covent Garden campus in 2003. In 1956, the School received the Royal Charter, becoming The Royal Ballet School.

Requirements

Entry is by audition only. Selection is based on dance talent and potential, regardless of academic background. Lower School entry: ages 11–16. Upper School entry: ages 16–19. International students must demonstrate English language proficiency if required.
