Deleting Your Account

How to delete your Ballee account, what gets removed, and the smaller options that might suit you better

Deleting Your Account

You can delete your account yourself, at any time, without asking anyone.

Before you delete

Three things people often want are not "delete everything", and each takes a few seconds:

  • You don't want to be found online. Make your profile private instead. It stops appearing in search and public listings, while your bookings, contracts and messages carry on untouched. Settings → Profile visibility.
  • You have two accounts. Merge them, and keep your history, media and applications in one place rather than losing one of them. Settings → Merge account.
  • You get too many emails. Choose exactly which notifications you receive, or switch them all off. Settings → Notifications.

How to delete

  1. Open Settings from the menu under your avatar.
  2. Scroll to Danger Zone and select Delete your Account.
  3. Tell us why you are leaving, if you want to. It is optional.
  4. Select Delete my account. We email you a six-digit code.
  5. Enter the code to confirm.

Deletion is permanent. There is no undo and no grace period.

What is deleted

  • Your profile and personal information: name, contact details, date of birth, address, identity documents.
  • Your photos, videos and documents.
  • Your bank and tax details.
  • Your notification settings, bookmarks and activity history.

What is kept, and why

Not everything is ours alone to erase.

  • Invoices, contracts and payment records are kept because accounting law requires it. They keep your name for as long as the law demands, then it is removed automatically.
  • Offers organisations made to you, and applications you sent them, stay on their side of the record. They show your name and that the account was deleted, because an organisation needs to know who it made an offer to.
  • Messages you sent stay in the other person's conversation, as they would in any inbox. Their copy of a conversation is theirs as well as yours.

If deletion is blocked

If your account still owns an organisation, a shop, or a team account, we cannot delete it yet: other people depend on it. Hand it over to someone else first, then come back.

Deleting from the mobile app

Use the website for now. The mobile app will tell you if a deletion did not go through rather than pretending it did.
